Central web content management system: TYPO3

The central web content management system (WCMS) TYPO3 enables the management of the majority of the University of Würzburg's websites.

Training server

The training server is available to every course participant for approximately two weeks. You can access it directly from the university network or via VPN.

The training server can be accessed at https://www.typo3-schulung.rz.uni-wuerzburg.de/typo3/.

Tutorials on TYPO3

The event calendar is an extension of the news extension. Events are therefore news items that are marked as "is Event".

To manage publications, we recommend the online system BibSonomy, for which we provide the corresponding TYPO3 extension for display:

Please note that you must also be authorised for this function. Please note that we only authorise a maximum of 2 people (responsible person and deputy) per area for web forms, so please coordinate internally.

The application is made via the user portal - TYPE: TYPO3 editor special rights -> GROUP: TYPO3: Form editor. If the link does not open the correct page for you, you can access the required application from the start page of the user portal via Applications -> Group membership.

Please also note that only the processing of personal data without increased protection requirements is permitted. Please contact the data protection officer if you wish to collect any data other than the person's name and e-mail address.

Storage of the data must be requested separately after completion of the form. Contact forms are not saved. File uploads are not set up.

General information

  • TYPO3 is not an archive of former content. Data records (pages, news/events, content elements) that are not displayed (= hidden) are automatically deleted. This happens 13 months after hiding.
  • TYPO3 is not a suitable storage location in terms of research data management.

Events

  • Events in the event calendar are automatically deleted 4 years after the date.

Forms (Powermail)

  • Only a few editors are activated for forms, max. 2 per area.
  • If the data centre activates the storage of data on the server for a form, this form data is automatically deleted 7 months after creation.

URLs

  • Facility names must be chosen so that the name sufficiently describes the area.
  • In the case of abbreviations, check that they are not already used elsewhere across the university. E.g. CCC for Chaos Computer Club.
  • The URL slug (e.g. "presse" for www.uni-wuerzburg.de/presse) should not be longer than 20 characters, the maximum possible length is 30 characters.
