Sample for the creation of an accessibility declaration
Please note that the full requirements are set out in Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2018/1523 of 11 October 2018 establishing a model accessibility statement in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies.
The following must also be provided on home pages (main website of the university) in German sign language and in plain language:
- Information about the content, for example about the university's own tasks,
- Navigation instructions and
- references to further information that is available on this website either in German Sign Language or in Easy Language.
An example of easy language can be found at the State Office for Digitisation, Broadband and Surveying and for videos in sign language at the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts.
The following tools can be used for an initial assessment to check whether your website is legally accessible:
- Developer tools in Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome
- Accessibility Insights
- WAVE Accessibility Tool
These tools require good knowledge of web development for proper operation.
