Authorised operating systems in the university network
Outdated operating systems and software products harbour a high risk of endangering IT systems and IT security. Therefore, only devices that have an up-to-date operating system and for which the manufacturer provides security updates may be operated in the university network. The security updates must also be installed.
Operating systems
- For Microsoft Windows, the official end of support of a version of the Windows life cycle information sheet applies.
- Apple does not publish an official end of support for software products, but recommends keeping the software up to date as one of the most important IT security measures.
- For Android, you can find an overview of the current versions with support in the Wikipedia article List of Android versions
The IT Service Center reserves the right to disconnect all other devices and also devices that cause malfunctions from the university network without consultation.
Exceptions for the use of outdated operating systems can be found under End devices with outdated operating systems.
