The AI bot "RZ-Biene"

The RZ-Biene – Your AI-powered IT support from the Computing Centre

The RZ-Biene supports students (starting October 2026) and staff (effective immediately) at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg with questions regarding the Computing Centre's IT services.

The RZ-Biene is available around the clock and helps users quickly find answers to common IT questions. It draws on the Computing Centre’s knowledge base and, where necessary, directs users to relevant guides or further information. The goal is to facilitate the initial steps of troubleshooting while simultaneously easing the workload on the IT support team.

Developed in cooperation with the University of Passau, the chatbot uses artificial intelligence to answer questions and help find solutions more efficiently. Users can simply enter their inquiry or describe their problem to receive an immediate, highly relevant response. Please note that as the University of Passau’s first external partner, the RZ-Biene is currently in a beta phase; this means minor inconsistencies in the quality of responses may occur during the initial weeks. Although the support team has conducted extensive testing over many weeks, as with any new service, further adjustments may still be required here and there.

How to use the RZ-Biene

Access the RZ-Biene via the Computing Centre’s website.

Log in with your JMU account credentials if required. Please note that the login option for the JMU account is currently located *below* the University of Passau login option!

Describe your inquiry as specifically as possible.

Examples:

  • "How do I set up eduroam on my iPhone?"
  • "I cannot log in to WueStudy."
  • "How do I set up MFA?"
  • "Outlook isn't syncing my emails."
  • "I have forgotten my password."

The more precise your description, the more effectively the RZ-Biene can assist you. During the chat The RZ-Biene analyzes your request and suggests suitable solutions or instructions. Generating a response may take a few seconds. If your issue cannot be fully resolved, please contact the Computing Center’s IT support team directly. Tips for best results Describe the problem as precisely as possible. Mention the devices or operating systems being used (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, or iOS). Quote any error messages verbatim, if possible. Ask follow-up questions if a response does not yet provide the help you need.

Providing feedback

After the conversation, you can rate the response or leave feedback. Every piece of feedback helps to continuously improve the quality of the RZ-Biene.

Data protection and security
